Jai is a Partner at Khosla Ventures, where he invests in growth-stage companies across fintech, healthcare, enterprise applications, and infrastructure. He focuses on category-defining businesses with the potential for outsized scale and economics, drawn to bold bets even at the growth stage. He has invested in and supports companies including Slash, Omnea, Zetwerk, Clickhouse, Abridge, Vercel, Glean, Kiddom, and Even.
Before joining KV, Jai was a founding partner at Flight Deck Capital, a technology-focused hedge fund covering the US, Latin America, and Asia. As one of three investors who built the firm from inception, he led the software and fintech group across a fundamental long/short book and an active private investing practice. The firm’s private investments included DriveWealth, Airtable, Nuvemshop, and Clutch. He returned to private investing for the depth of operating partnership it allows, and brings a public-markets perspective to founders building toward IPO and beyond.
Earlier, Jai was a Principal at NEA, where he worked across the firm's enterprise and fintech practices. He was part of the teams backing Databricks, Plaid, and Automation Anywhere, and led investments in Narmi and Divvy, which later sold to Bill.com for $2.5B. He also helped lead the spin-out of NewView Capital, a $1.35 billion GP-led secondary transaction in which 31 NEA growth-stage portfolio companies were carved into a new dedicated fund. The deal was a first of its kind at scale and became the template for the venture secondaries category that followed.
Jai's parents emigrated from India, and his father built the family's apparel business from humble beginnings. Watching him do it is what drew Jai to entrepreneurship and, eventually, into venture.
Jai holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, where he was an undergraduate researcher at the Neural Prosthetics Translational Lab (NPTL) working on brain-computer interfaces. Outside the lab, he worked as a software engineer at an early stage drone company and as a product manager at a healthcare startup.
