
Hesam Motlagh
Hesam is Chief of Staff at Khosla Ventures, working with Vinod Khosla on strategic projects for the firm. He also advises portfolio companies on fundraising, product, business development, marketing and overall strategy.
Hesam is passionate about translating basic science discoveries into products that can have a significant impact on society. He is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Structural Biology at Stanford Medicine; a Fellow at The Johns Hopkins Institute for Applied Economics, Global Health and the Study of Business Enterprise; and editor of the Institute’s Studies in Applied Finance. Previously, he was a financial and corporate strategist at Seer Biosciences. He was a fellow at Pear VC, a quant at an investment management firm, as well as a molecular and computational biophysicist for almost a decade.
Hesam has published many peer-reviewed articles, including one featured on the cover of Nature that has been cited over 1000 times. He completed his MBA at Stanford Graduate School of Business, earned a Ph.D. in molecular biophysics at The Johns Hopkins University under the supervision of Vincent Hilser, and completed his undergraduate degrees at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
